Computer Problem?

My computer is new and has only been with me for 1 year. But today at the top left corner of my screen there is an underscore that is blinking and I can no longer click anything on the screen. It's as if it's completely frozen and there is no toolbar or anything. Just a big black screen and a blinking underscore at the top left corner. Can anyone help me?
