Do women in Thailand use the " scam" against foreigners as much as the women in the Philippines do?

A scam is when a foreigner travels to a foreign country and hits it off really well with one of the local women. They go out for a few drinks, dances, and then go back to his hotel where they have consensual ual . She leaves and then returns within a few short hours with a police officer who is in on the scam. The demand that the man pay $5,000 USD or he will be charged with . If the man refuses to pay then the police officer files a case against the man and he is arrested and put in a jail until the trial clears him of the charge which usually takes several months. If for some reason he is convicted then he spends the rest of his life in a jail cell in that country. Even if he is not convicted he could loose his job and has all of that lost income due to the lengthy judicial procedures. This is the number 1 syndicated crime against foreigners in the Philippines. Does this happen a lot in Thailand and if not why not? Are there any laws in Thailand to protect foreigners against this type of scam?
