I am about to start playing the guitar?

I am getting ready to start playing the guitar. My dad played guitar a lot and has 5 acoustics and a Fender guitar. I have narrowed down my choices, should I start on the Gibbson acoustic or the Fender stratocaster guitar? I know what I learn on one I pretty much learn on the other. If you have any videos that will help beginners could you please post the link on here. One more thing, after I get the basics down, what song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be decent for a beginner to learn??? THANKS!
